Unfortunately, when healthy, Nate still reads routes well and manages the offense fine, and that's always been the big sticking point for Tedford.

I would like to think Riley will prove himself in spring practice, but with the relative youth in what seems to be a transitional year, I wouldn't be surprised if Tedford again turned to his veteran leader.

Re: Nate vs. Riley, Part I

The Nate Longshore debate will be resolved long before the majority of these recruits take the field. So yes, I think the stadium issue might factor in more than our quarterback woes.

Re: Nate vs. Riley, Part I

For Tedford's sake, I hope the QB decision is a very easy one. I hope one guy is the clear cut better player and is awarded the job. Tedford himself said he doesn't like QB controversies, and I'd have to agree with him. Rarely does any good come out of them. I just divides fans into two factions and promotes mis-trust of the head coach for the faction who's QB-favorite wasn't deemed the starter (last year is a perfect example of this). So I hope the players' performance makes the decision easy for Tedford. There is already enough growing mis-trust among Cal fans because of last season. The last thing Cal needs is more mistrust.

As for SmartGuy's comment that the stadium isn't hurting our recruiting, it is. Both winning and the facilities affect recruiting. To say that facilities don't have an affect ignores a large facet of a recruit's decision.

Re: Nate vs. Riley, Part I

HA!

As if the stadium project is what hurt our recruiting!

Tedford should shut up at this point and win games. That will help the stadium project and recruiting.
